Annual 'Care Through Curry' Scholarship

Hosted by the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences

The Annual "Care Through Curry" Scholarship celebrates the impact of culinary acts of kindness, particularly through the preparation and sharing of curry dishes. This initiative encourages students to engage in meaningful community service that fosters connection, compassion, and creativity.

Mission

The scholarship aims to recognize and support NDU students who use cooking—especially curry—as a way to show care for others.

Eligibility

All NDU students—graduate, undergraduate, full-time, and part-time—from all three campuses are eligible to participate in the Annual "Care Through Curry" cooking competition.

2025 Themes

This year, submissions should focus on one of the following themes:

  • Cooking Waste-Free
  • Cooking for the Elderly

To participate in this year’s competition:
  • Organize a Themed Activity: Create and complete an activity centered around the theme "Cooking with Curry," while showcasing care for others.
  • Document and Share: Summarize your activity using videos, photos, or a written report. Share this summary with your community to highlight the event’s impact.
  • Submit Your Entry: Email the documentation of your activity to ctc@ndu.edu.lb. You will receive an email confirmation within 48 hours of submission.

Evaluation Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated based on:
  • Relevance to the Theme: How well the activity incorporates the concept of "Cooking with Curry."
  • Expression of Care: The extent to which the activity demonstrates care for others, including its reach, target audience, and potential for future scalability.
  • Creativity and Community Engagement: The creativity of your documentation and how effectively it engages the community.

Competition Prize

The awardee will each receive a USD 1,000 scholarship toward tuition fees.

Examples of Themed Activities

  • Example 1: A student can prepare meals for frontline workers or provide children and their families with a heartwarming dish.
  • Example 2: A student collaborates with NDU’s foreign staff to host a multicultural event, where participants prepare dishes featuring curry and discuss its cultural significance. The event is documented with photos and shared on NDU's social media.
  • Example 3: Organize a “potluck lunch” where each attendee brings a prepared dish to share, creating a variety of food for everyone.
