Independent Living & Social Skills

Students will develop life and social skills necessary for their professional and personal lives.

Program Design

  • The IDEAL Program instructors (specialists from the SKILD Center) will give students in the IDEAL program courses to enhance their basic independent living skills;
  • Each student will take three courses per semester on technology, monitoring income and expenditure, cooking, hygiene, social skills, safety measures, self-advocacy, and self-awareness among others;
  • Students are encouraged to monitor their progress, make choices about classes and on-campus activities, and interact with faculty and staff to meet their needs;
  • Students are encouraged to join clubs and teams on campus.
