Application Requirements

To apply for the IDEAL Program, follow these steps:

1. Schedule an initial meeting with the IDEAL staff to determine eligibility.
2. Complete program requirements, including class observations, assessments, and documentation.
3. Review all mandatory documentation and student profiles.
4. Upon approval from IDEAL staff, submit an application to NDU's Office of Admissions.

Application requirements for the IDEAL Program include the following:

1. Valid and Recent Documentation

Provide up-to-date documentation of the candidate's case, such as a cognitive evaluation, which should not be more than two years old.

2. Application Form

Submit the completed application form in person to the Office of Admissions.

3. Letters of Recommendation

Include two letters of recommendation from individuals who are not relatives and have known the candidate for at least six months or longer. Ideally, one of these reference writers should be an educator (e.g., teacher, principal, guidance counselor), while the other writer, if possible, should be an employer, psychotherapist, social worker, counselor, or another service provider.

4. Personal Statement

Provide a videotaped or written personal statement from the candidate. This statement should convey information about the candidate's hobbies, interests, reasons for wanting to join the university, and future goals.

5. Transcripts

Submit transcripts from all high school and postsecondary education institutions.

6. Psycho-Educational Evaluation Report

Include a copy of a recent and comprehensive psycho-educational evaluation report. This report should not be older than two years and should encompass the candidate's personal and medical history, disability diagnosis information, IQ scores, assessment results, and recommendations.

7. Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)

Include the candidate's updated IEP from their last year of high school, along with a progress report.

Please note that all these documents must be provided to be considered for the application process. Furthermore, it's important to be aware that once submitted, these documents become the property of NDU, and their contents remain confidential, regardless of the admission status.
