Note from the Chair

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) is proud to offer two distinguished Bachelor of Engineering programs: Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Our department is home to a team of dedicated faculty members, whose expertise and knowledge have played a pivotal role in establishing our department's excellent reputation. It's worth noting that our Mechanical Engineering program is fully accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Our programs are designed to provide a solid educational foundation that equips our graduates with technical proficiency and strong interpersonal skills, positioning them for successful and dynamic careers in today's rapidly evolving workforce. To achieve this, our students engage in a comprehensive curriculum, including theoretical and design courses that instill problem-solving abilities and the capability to design engineering systems. The pinnacle of the undergraduate experience is the year-long senior design project, offering students practical exposure to real-world engineering challenges. Additionally, we offer several laboratory courses that facilitate hands-on learning and the direct application of engineering principles. For those pursuing advanced studies, our graduate MS program in Mechanical Engineering provides an opportunity for further specialization.

We encourage you to explore our department's state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and recent acquisitions, which can be found on our facilities webpages. Our faculty members are actively engaged in a wide spectrum of research activities within the fields of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, as evidenced by their publications in esteemed international journals and conferences.

At the core of our mission is the commitment to nurturing engineers with a natural inclination towards lifelong learning and a knack for problem-solving, preparing them to tackle any technological challenge. Many of our accomplished alumni have not only generated new knowledge but have also assumed leadership roles that benefit society at large. Additionally, we offer opportunities for students to enhance their leadership and communication skills and make a global impact through involvement in international professional societies such as ASHRAE, ASME, and AICHE.

We invite you to join our department and embark on a journey of education, innovation, and personal growth. Please feel free to reach out to us for more information and to explore the exciting opportunities awaiting you at NDU's Department of Mechanical Engineering.
