The Faculty of Engineering (FE) at NDU, in collaboration with all engineering societies (ASCE, ASME, ASHRAE, EWB, and IEEE) and Tollab-Montreal, organized on February 22, 2017, a first of its kind event entitled, “Railroad Online.”
“Railroad Online” consisted of a live stream teleconference between Lebanon and Montreal, tackling the subject of railroad transportation in both countries.

Dr. Eugene Sensenig and Mr. Elias Bou Mrad (from Train Train - Lebanon) presented a brief history of the railways in Lebanon. In addition, some solutions were suggested in an effort to reestablish the railroads that connect several Lebanese cities.

Dr. Gerard Gauthier (from Ottawa) gave a short overview of the railroads in Canada. He also explained the evolution of trains over the years and the work that had to be done to ensure this development, which has changed the image of transportation around the world.

This seminar was organized to spread awareness about the railroad situation in Lebanon and to give hope that it is possible to achieve such a mammoth project in the country.
