For the second year in a row, Notre Dame University- Shouf Campus opens its doors, on December 2, 2016, to receive the parents of potential students and acquaint them with NDU academic offerings, faculties and facilities. The event, organized by the NDU-SC Admissions Office gives parents the chance to meet with faculty coordinators and instructors.
Father Hanna Tayar, Director of NDU-Shouf Campus, welcomed the parents. “I look forward to this meeting every year,” Fr. Tayar addressed the parents; “it gives us the chance to meet with you and assure you that we shall continue the educational mission that you started with your children.” NDU, Fr. Tayar added, provides students with a quality well-rounded education that prepares them for the future and for their roles as informed and effective citizens.
Mr. Ayman Abou Hamdan, Admissions Assistant, then, took the floor to highlight the importance of the Admission Office in student orientation. The Admissions Office plays a vital role in cooperating with schools to provide students with proper academic guidance. Mr. Bou Hamdan addressed students' concerns including tuition fees, financial aid and facilities. Then, he presented several facts regarding accomplishments of the university such as ABET and AACSB Accreditation.
The event continued with a discussion between the parents and university administrators. The ushers guided the parents to university faculties, computer labs, libraries and classrooms.
This event ended with a small buffet for all the participants. Parents' positive feedback will encourage us to organize the Parents' Day event every year to increase the involvement of parents in our university.
