May 2020 – The Fédération Internationale d'Education Physique – International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP) has appointed Dr. Nadim Nassif, Assistant Professor at the Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) Faculty of Humanities (FH) Department of Psychology, Education, and Physical Education, as the FIEP national delegate for Lebanon.
The FIEP an international non-government organization committed to promoting the development of all forms of physical education across all disciplines and skill levels. The FIEP is one of the only international organization focusing exclusively on physical education recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and maintains close relationships with the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICCSPE).
Dr. Nassif’s position as the FIEP national delegate for Lebanon covers a variety of responsibilities. In addition to representing Lebanon and NDU, Dr. Nassif will be adding to the scientific development of the teaching and management of physical education, sport, fitness and health around the world, by contributing to the publication of the FIEP bulletin and undertake research, documentation, and information exchange with other national and international bodies. His most recent project was a chapter "Physical Education and Sports in Lebanese Universities," published in the book Physical Education in Universities Researches - Best Practices - Situation" edited by the FIEP. This marks the first time a chapter on Lebanon is published by the FIEP.
Dr. Nassif’s appointment marks yet another milestone in NDU’s journey as one of the premier research institutions in Lebanon and the MENA region. “Our goal as NDU Physical Education and Sport faculties is to raise the profile of our major on a national, regional, and international level,” said Dr. Nassif. “Our presence in the FIEP is in line with the publication of the World Ranking of Countries in Elite Sport, which started in 2014, and with the establishment of an MA in Sports Management in the future.”
