NDU ADOPTS A HYBRID LEARNING SYSTEM FOR FALL 2020

Due to the prevailing conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, NDU will adopt the hybrid learning system for Fall 2020. Hybrid learning combines face-to-face and online teaching into one cohesive experience. The list of courses that require a certain amount of physical presence on campus is available in the Dean’s/Chair’s office. To find out if a course(s) is included on this list, please contact the relevant chair or dean’s office. Hybrid courses are generally those falling in the following categories: Labs, visual arts, studios, clinical, sports and hands on courses.

NDU will deliver all courses online starting September 15, 2020 including those designated as hybrid. Physical attendance on campus for hybrid courses will start October 1, 2020 after carefully assessing the health situation in Lebanon. We will keep monitoring the situation throughout the Fall semester and make adjustments to our plans accordingly. Students taking hybrid courses will be allowed on campus under strict precautionary health measures. The Office of Human Resources will be reminding the community about the health measures taken by the University. Any violation of these measures will result in denying the concerned person access to NDU campuses.

Students who are abroad, are kindly requested to contact the Student Affairs Office (SAO) if they plan to remain abroad for Fall 2020 in order to find a suitable solution for their individual cases.

Management of hybrid courses that require some presence on campus is done by each Dean/Chair/Director of Regional Campuses. Hybrid Classes on campus will be reserved through the aforementioned administrators and will be scheduled according to the following rules:

a. MWF courses: courses allowed on each day is 1/3 of the list provided by the department; 1/3 on Monday, 1/3 on Wednesday and 1/3 on Friday.

b. TTH courses: courses allowed on each day is 1/2 of the total provided by the department; 1/2 on Tuesday and 1/2 on Thursday.

c. Exams: Only final exams are allowed on campus. Provisions for holding final exams on campus will be communicated at a later stage.

Students with any questions on this matter are invited to contact their concerned Dean/Chair/Campus Director.
