Faculty of Business Administration & Economics (FBAE) student at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU), Fadi Chalawit, won the First Prize in the National Virtual Stock Exchange (NVSE) 2019 Competition organized annually by Blominvest Bank.
Seven Universities participated. Five contestants from NDU, AUB, Antonine University, and Arab Open University presented their strategies and results to a jury composed of professional executives, and portfolio and investment fund managers from Blominvest bank.
The jury were impressed with the consistency of Chalawit’s strategy, and his solid academic background. The strategy in question was a blend of theoretical concepts studied in the classroom and practical models acquired on a personal level. Chalawit emphasized the way he initially built his portfolio using investment tools, mainly market comparables and Markowitz theory besides the technical analysis and advanced derivatives strategies. He also ventured investing in unfamiliar US stocks, a risky approach which requires extensive research and unique strategies to provide a good return on investment.
Speaking on behalf of the FBAE, Dr. Etienne Gebran-Harb Assistant Professor of Finance – Department of Accounting & Finance, said: “We are proud of Fadi’s performance and achievements! A mixture of self-confidence, strong character, determination and solid education made him the winner of the National VSE 2019. Congratulations Fadi!”
Congratulations to Fadi Chalawit, and best of luck in your future endeavors.
