The Ramez G. Chagoury Faculty of Architecture, Arts, and Design (FAAD) at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) is delighted to invite you to the "Spectacular" Art Exhibition, curated by Dr. Tony Karem. This exhibition, showcasing the works of renowned Lebanese artist Halim Jurdiak, will be held from Wednesday, March 26, 2025, to Monday, April 7, 2025, at the FAAD Exhibition Hall, Ground Floor (Art Gallery).
The opening event will take place on March 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the exhibition will be open for visits during university hours until April 7. Jurdiak, a prize-winning artist, is celebrated for his mastery in etching and engraving, as well as his significant contributions to painting, sculpture, and drawing.
Halim Jurdiak, who studied at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) in 1953 and earned a Master's in Fine Arts from the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, has been recognized with numerous awards, including the First Prize in Engraving at the school's prestigious annual exhibition. His artistic style has evolved over the years, integrating academic realism, cubism, and both figurative and non-figurative abstraction.
In addition to his impressive artistic career, Jurdiak is a highly regarded writer and critic. His publications on art theory, including "The Metamorphosis of Line and Color" (1975) and "The Eye of Contentment" (1995), have made a significant impact on the art community. Jurdiak’s work has been exhibited extensively both locally and internationally, at prestigious venues such as the Sursock Museum, ALBA, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, UNESCO Palace, the Arab Work Institute in Paris, and the King Khaled Collection in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
