Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) will be hosting between October 6 and October 9, 2016, the 2nd edition of the "Festival d'Astronomie de Fleurance au Liban", organized by UniversCiel and under the patronage of Monsieur Emmanuel Bonne Ambassador of France in Lebanon.

This festival will bring the general public and school students from different establishments in Lebanon closer to science and to give them the opportunity to admire scientific prowess, to understand the challenges inherent in science, and to provide a measure of the risks and limitations involved.  

The "Festival d'Astronomie de Fleurance au Liban" features a varied program, which includes conferences; training workshops; interactive activities; observations of the sky with instruments to help people discover and understand the universe and planet Earth.

Also included in the Festival are workshops, observation evenings as well as presentations and exhibitions. The event also brings together numerous French and Lebanese speakers, such as Jean-Marc Levy-Leblond, Jérôme Perez, Sylvain Bouley, Jean-Philippe Uzan, Mohammad Abbas, Cyrine Nehmé, Bassem Sabra and Marwan Gebran, who will elaborate upon the topic of Astronomy and Cosmology. In addition, the Festival features an exciting array of educational programs and fun activities, such as stargazing, and Astro- Gastro!

Thursday, October 6, 2016
The opening ceremony is taking place at “Institut Français”

•    8:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. – Inauguration/Detailed Description of the Festival/Speeches
•    9:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. – Conference with Jean-Marc Levy-Leblond: “L’Univers a-t-il vraiment eu un commencement?”

Friday, October 7, 2016
•    10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Workshops and Courses (Ages 12 and 13)
•    1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Lunch Break
•    2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Workshops and Courses (Ages 14 and 15)
•    5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Workshops and Courses (High School Students)
•    7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. – Conference with Cyrine Nehmé: “Les exo-planètes: Opération-Invasion”
•    8:00 p.m. – Night Observation

This day is open for Lycée students.
