In commemoration of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, the Benedict XVI Endowed Chair of Religious, Cultural, and Philosophical Studies, in collaboration with the Department of Media Studies at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU), convenes a half-day symposium examining the alarming global rise in violence against journalists and the persistent lack of accountability for perpetrators.

The event will open with remarks by Prof. Edward Alam, Dr. Maria Bou Zeid, and Mr. George Awad, followed by an introduction to the program by Ms. Honorée Claris Eid. By bringing together leading researchers, journalists, and policy experts, the symposium provides an interdisciplinary analysis of the systemic factors enabling impunity and explores their consequences for public discourse, democratic resilience, and human rights.
