NDU ALUMNA WINS CHARLES T. MAIN STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARD

NDU ALUMNA WINS CHARLES T. MAIN STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARD
Recent Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) alumna, Sandy Karam, has been awarded the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Charles T. Main Student Leadership Award Gold Medal: the most prestigious award any Mechanical Engineering student can receive. Established in 1919, the award singles out students who have made substantial leadership and service contributions to the activities of an ASME affiliated student society, their department, and other related activities. With the Gold Medal award given out to only one student each year, and competition on an international scale, the recipient’s qualities and actions must be truly exceptional.

Karam has certainly shown herself equal to the Gold Medal’s global standard. During her time at NDU, she served as both President of the ASME’ NDU chapter during the 2016-2017 academic year, and the Regional Student Chair for Middle East and Africa for 2018-2019. “I am very honored to have received such an award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers,” said Karam. “I have worked so hard toward it, devoting my time to ASME's development in addition to organizing all the big events that took place at NDU.”

Karam is slated to fly out to Salt Lake City, Utah, USA in November, where she will receive the award in person. In the meantime, she is continuing her track record of growing NDU’s engineering student chapters: “I'm currently working along with a great team on a huge engineering festival "the EFx" that will take place at NDU on September 28th, and we all can't wait for the big day!”

Congratulations to Sandy Karam, and best of luck in your future endeavors!
