VIRTUAL STOCK EXCHANGE COMPETITION WINNERS

The Department of Accounting and Finance (DAF) at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (FBAE), in collaboration with BLOMINVEST Bank, celebrated the awards distribution to the three winners of the Virtual Stock Exchange Competition, which was initiated in October 2017.

The winners were:

  • First Prize: (US$2,000): Charbel Younan;
  • Runner-up: (US$1,500): Fadi Chalawit; and
  • Third Prize: (US$1,000): Razan Zaidan.

For the second consecutive year, Finance students  at the FBAE have competed in this wonderful finance competition where they gain practical and curriculum-related experience in investment and trade—an activity that satisfies part of our practicum requirement, aiming at preparing them for a successful professional and academic career.

In the presence of NDU President Fr. Pierre Najem, VP for Administration Fr. Samir Ghsoub, faculty, students, and guests, FBAE Chairperson Dr. Vivane Naimy hosted the participating students on December 11, 2017. She quoted a famous saying, “Often people that settle in life are those that only do what they can with what they have and where they are. Never settle for someone that does not know your worth from the start, or build a life without God in it. Live beyond your small expectations.”

Dr. Naimy added, “You are our utmost purpose! We know extremely well how much you are worth to us. We are here to serve you through God and through the Blessed Virgin Mary. Indeed, we live well beyond our expectations, only when it comes to you.”

Four selected students, out of 70, who actively participated in the competition, presented their investment output. The selection of the top performers has been based on the strategies followed, the number of trades, the return on investment, and the Sharp ratio.
