The Ramez G. Chagoury Faculty of Architecture, Arts and Design (RC-FAAD) at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) proudly congratulates its student Racha Abd al-Baki on winning the first prize in the 18th annual “Al-Chadurji Award for Lebanese Students of Architecture” for her project titled, “Re-thinking Informality: Hay el-Tanak, Wata el-Moussaitbeh.”
The Chadurji Association for Architecture, in collaboration with the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut, organized this event. The jury was composed of various recognized academics and professionals from Lebanon and the Middle East. Eight local universities offering a B.A. in Architecture, including NDU, participated in the competition, which was held between January 19 and 20, 2018, on the premises of the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut.
NDU, the American University of Beirut (AUB), Beirut Arab University (BAU), Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), Lebanese American University (LAU), Lebanese University (LU4), and Al-Manar University of Tripoli (MUT) were represented by 18 students, presenting their final year architecture projects. Al-Chadurji Award is considered as Lebanon’s most prestigious student architectural competition given that all projects are required to fulfill the competition’s objectives: to provide a sustainable social, environmental, economic, and civic impact delivered through innovative architectural solutions.
The following winners were announced on January 20:
- 1st Prize: Racha Abd Al Baki (NDU);
- 2nd Prize: Juhaina Ridan (LU4); and
- 3rd Prize: Myriam Bchara (ALBA), Yasmin Atwi (AUB).
The NDU administration heartily congratulates the RC-FAAD on this win! We are proud to have such proactive, talented, dedicated, and passionate students!
