Location: North Lebanon Campus
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Faculty of Engineering at the North Lebanon Campus (NLC) of Notre Dame University – Louaize is organizing competitions aiming at allowing school students to acquire some experience in applying early engineering skills, develop their teamwork expertise, and learn how to manage time efficiently.  The competitions will be held on Saturday the 17th of December 2016 from 10 am till 2 pm at the Laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering in the North Lebanon Campus, Barsa – El Koura.  Interesting presentations will be given by faculty members and competitions rules will be detailed prior to the start. The competitions fall under the umbrella of three departments as follows:

The Department of Electrical, Computer and Communication Engineering is organizing the “Multiple-Switch Lamp Competition”.  Each team is provided with necessary electric circuit components, switches, and related tools to achieve two different configurations whereby a lamp has to be controlled via multiple switches for on/off operation.  Two parameters are measured: the time used to achieve a working configuration alongside the level of optimization in terms of the number of electric connections and their effectiveness.  Winning teams must achieve the best in terms of both parameters.

Kindly note that a maximum of 80 students will be participating with a total of 240 participants for the three aforementioned categories – Each school is entitled to nominate two teams in each category (from grades 10 to 12).  Acceptable team sizes shall comprise two to four students – hence, each school can be represented by a maximum of 24 students (all categories and grades combined).

In each category, Certificates will be given to all participants, a trophy for the first winner, and the prizes are distributed to the winning teams as follows: $500 for the first place, $350 for the second place, and $150 for the third place.

The Faculty of Engineering cordially invites schools to participate in this unique activity.  If you are interested, you are kindly requested to book your place as early as possible, and before the 1st of December, 2016,  by providing us with the number and name of students participating in the competition in each category and a contact person from the school with a mobile number.  For inquiry and participation, please contact Mrs. Reina Ayoub via email: rayoub@ndu.edu.lb or by phone: +961(6)416100/1/2/4 (Ext. 3416).
