History

Recognized as a leader among music schools in Lebanon, NDU School of Music pushes the boundaries of making and teaching music through high level musical training in classical, modern and Arabic music.

Established in 1992, NDU School of Music educates and trains musicians of all ages, providing them with performance opportunities and high-caliber education, drawing on the talent and deep experience of a group of distinguished faculty members. 

 

The school is dedicated to inculcating the highest standards of excellence and nurturing individual artistic sensibility and creative growth. Students have a supportive environment that maximizes the individual attention they receive from their teachers, and allows them to explore and develop their unique artistic personalities.

Since 2016, NDU School of Music has been fully engaged in publishing music formation series in collaboration with its outstanding teachers, covering Music Theory, Solfeggio and Music appreciation workbooks, to cater for the demand of Lebanese music students for a country-specific curriculum. 


Understanding that music is one of the transcendent expressions of human civilization, that builds human capacity and elevates the soul, NDU School of Music strives to reinforce and expand the position of music in society by educating the next generation of music leaders, incubating new work, and sharing this sublime art with the widest possible audience.

Founder & Director


Founder and director of the Notre Dame University Choir and School of Music since 1992, faculty member and choir director at the National Higher Conservatory of Music of Beirut, and chaplain general of the Sovereign order of Malta in Lebanon since 2011.

Born in Bcharre, Rahme completed his studies in Philosophy  and Theology at the Pontifical Lateran University, as well as his studies in music composition at the Tomás Luis de Victoria School of Music and the Santa Cecilia conservatory in Rome, under the tutoring of Valentino Miserachs.

As a composer, Rahme generously contributed to the enrichment of the Maronite sacred repertoire. His catalogue presents various hymns and motets for different liturgical occasions, a Mass for children choir, documentary music (Qarīban mina ssamā’, l’Espoir, etc.), operettas (Anā ma’akom, Maryam fī masīirati ša’bi llāh, etc.), and oratorios (St. Paul, The Maronites and the Glory of Lebanon, etc.). His discography features a dozen of discs, most of them with the Notre University Choir.
