Born in December 1968, Bucharest, Romania, Ovidiu Georgescu graduated from Polytechnic University, Bucharest (1994), then from The National University of Theatre and Film (U.N.A.T.C.) “I.L.Caragiale”, Bucharest (1998). He holds a Ph.D. in Cinema and Media at U.N.A.T.C. “I.L.Caragiale” Bucharest (2007), with emphasis on “Myth and tradition in the contemporary Northern Cinema”. He is currently Professor and Dean of Film Faculty at U.N.A.T.C. “I.L.Caragiale” Bucharest. In 2000, he worked as screenwriter, director, producer and initiator of the first Romanian independent feature film, “Watch it!” and the “CONCESSION Manifesto” (2000) and the first Romanian independent feature film in magic realism, “The Last Incubus” and the “PROMISSUM Cultural Manifesto” (2012). Wrote, directed and produced more than ten films - documentary and fiction between 1998 and 2018, attending to a lot of international film festivals and winning several awards. He published several film books between 2009 and 2017. 2009 – 2017, publish several film books. He is now working on the production of the feature fiction film “The Master of Silence” (release in 2020).
