Emile Chahine was born in Lebanon in 1942. He was involved in cinema by correspondence studies, trainings, seminars and festivals, after a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Saint Joseph – USJ. He wrote cinema reviews and analysis in addition to weekly articles for several Lebanese and European magazines; he created and presented Television programs, he was the cinematic advisor for LBC and Tele Liban networks for several years. He founded many Cine Clubs around Lebanon; currently he animates a weekly Cine Club at NDU. Chahine is a cinema professor at NDU, ALBA and INBA (Master) and previously at LAU; he teaches Comparative Cinema, Art of the Film and world Cinema Survey. He is a co-founder of the NDU International Film Festival and Head of the Jury in Cinema’yat short Film Festival, in addition to his participation in several local and international Film Festivals juries Like Med film Festival (Italy-2010) and actually the "Trophées Francophones du Cinema". Chahine is also a member of the Ministry of Culture’s supporting scripts Jury. Recently he returns to INBA to teach in Master Level.
