Program Overview

This media production summer program in Lebanon offers high school students an immersive, hands-on experience in audiovisual production, specifically in Film, TV Advertising, and TV Journalism. Over the course of three days, students will learn the art of storytelling, production techniques, and various media formats, while gaining practical experience by creating their own one-minute video project.

The program aims to introduce students to the exciting world of media production and help them develop essential skills for creating engaging audiovisual content. Whether you are interested in film production, TV journalism, or advertising, this program provides an excellent foundation to kick-start your journey in the media industry in Lebanon. 

 

Objective Activity Location 

Phase 1: Pre-Production

Introduce students to storytelling, media formats, and production techniques while forming teams and brainstorming creative projects.

Welcome and Introduction: An overview of the program’s objectives and schedule.

Campus Tour: A guided exploration of audiovisual facilities and resources.

Screening Session: Viewing selected senior films with an actor or director closely connected to NDU or an alumnus/alumna, followed by a discussion.

Discussion and Brainstorming: Interactive workshops led by faculty will cover key topics, including storytelling and scriptwriting, cinematography and visual composition, acting for the camera, sound and music in film, and editing.

 

Students will be introduced to storytelling techniques, media formats, and creative approaches. They will receive assigned topics and brainstorm ideas before selecting a media format, such as a short film or photography.

 

Teams will then be formed, with each group assigned a senior student mentor.

 

The session will conclude with planning and preparation for execution while exploring campus green spaces.

Division of Audio-Visual Arts Studios

Phase 2: Production and Presentation

Empower students to bring their creative projects to life, refine their work, and present it for feedback and evaluation.

Production Phase: Teams, guided by experienced audiovisual student mentors, bring their projects to life. Students gain hands-on experience in filming, photography, or other chosen media, with mentors providing support throughout the production process.

Finalization: Projects are edited and refined in preparation for their final presentation.

Screening and Evaluation: Completed projects are presented to fellow students and a jury of teachers. The session concludes with a feedback discussion, allowing students to reflect on their work and receive constructive input.

 

Participants

  • Open to high school students (Grades 10, 11 and 12) who are passionate about media, film, and creative industries, and eager to explore hands-on audiovisual production.

 

Outcomes for Participants

By the end of the program, participants will: 

  • Gain hands-on experience in media production.
  • Develop creativity, teamwork, and technical skills.
  • Produce a one-minute video project.
  • Receive feedback from mentors and peers.
  • Receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Trainer Profiles

  • Dr. Joseph Houssni holds a Ph.D. in Visual and Performing Arts from Université du Saint-Esprit Kaslik, Lebanon (2014). Dr. Houssni specializes in media studies, audiovisual arts, and creative production. He has a wealth of experience in both teaching and practical application within the fields of film, television, and media.
  • Melhem Rechdan holds a Master of Arts in Media Studies from Notre Dame University-Louaize, Lebanon (2008). Rechdan has extensive experience in media production, specializing in audiovisual arts and communication. He brings a wealth of knowledge to his teaching and mentoring roles in the field of media and creative industries.
  • Naoum Abi Adam holds a Master of Fine Arts in Cinematography from the University of St. Joseph, Lebanon (2012). With expertise in cinematography and film production, Abi Adam has a strong background in visual storytelling and creative direction, making him an influential figure in the media and film industry.
  • Pierrot Haddad holds a Master of Arts in Media Studies from Notre Dame University-Louaize, Lebanon, and has been teaching audiovisual courses for over 18 years. He brings extensive knowledge and experience in the television industry, particularly in promotion and graphics, where he led both departments for more than 12 years.

Certificate of Attendance

All participants will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance on the final day of the program, distributed by the Faculty of Humanities.
