Program Overview

This sustainability and innovation summer program in Lebanon provides an immersive introduction to civil and environmental engineering. Through hands-on experiments, engaging activities, competitions, and guest speakers, students will explore key concepts in sustainability and innovation within the engineering field.

Participants will engage in activities such as concrete strength testing, landfill design, wastewater treatment, and structural engineering challenges. The program aims to provide an enriching educational experience that not only deepens students' understanding of environmental engineering but also promotes NDU as a leading institution for STEM education in Lebanon.

This program is an excellent opportunity to learn about sustainability in engineering and gain practical experience in tackling real-world engineering challenges.

Day 1 Arrival of Participants and Meeting with Parents
Adding Recyclable Materials to Concrete and Compressive Strength Testing
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Day 2 Design and Testing of a Landfill Cover (Competition)
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Day 3 Wastewater Treatment Activities (Filter/Settling Column/Parameter Testing)
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Day4 Structural Challenge: Design and Build a Lightweight, High-Load Structure
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Day 5 Closing Ceremony and Certificate Distribution
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Participants 

  • Open to students between the ages of 12 and 15.
  • Priority will be given to students with high academic performance.

 

Outcomes for Participants

By the end of the program, participants will: 
  • Experience civil engineering through practical activities in a supportive environment.
  • Strengthen interest in STEM disciplines while developing problem-solving skills.
  • Gain real-world engineering experience through expert mentorship.

  • Sawsan Sleiman is a Senior Laboratory Instructor at Notre Dame University-Louaize, Lebanon.
  • Elie Lahoud is a Senior Laboratory Technician at Notre Dame University-Louaize, Lebanon.

 

Certificate of Attendance

All participants will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance on the final day of the program, distributed by the Faculty of Engineering.

Total Cost: USD 150.
Non-refundable registration fee: USD 30.
