Elvis Louis Alam

Mr. Elvis Louis Alam was born in San Pedro de Macoris, in the Dominican Republic, a city that from the end of the 19th century until the 1920’s welcomed many Lebanese. Mr. Alam, a Civil Engineer, graduated in 1984 from the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). He was Associate Professor at INTEC University from 1985 to1987 and Professor at O&M University from 1985 to 1990.

Mr. Alam is directly involved with the Lebanese Diaspora in the Dominican Republic. He was President of the Jovenes Dominico Libaneses and is currently Vice President of Club Libanes Sirio-Palestino Inc. founded in 1918. He is currently associated with the International Maronite Foundation.

Since 1997 he has been involved in bringing people mainly of Lebanese origin to the land of their ancestors. In 2005 he founded CENTRO CULTURAL LIBANES in Santo Domingo.

Mr. Alam has also delivered many lectures focused on the rich history of Lebanon and its legacy in several universities, schools and institutions.
He is presently collecting information on the arrival of the Lebanese in the Dominican Republic from 1894 onward.

Between 2003 and 2008 he produced and directed a weekly radio program VOCES DEL MEDIO ORIENTE based on Lebanon and the music of the Middle East.
