Civil Law I: Introduction to Law I - Theory of Law - LAW 201

Civil Law is the basis of legal science. It is the only course taught for 8 semesters, which allows students to obtain a Bachelor of Laws degree. The General Theory of Law is taught during the first semester. Course topics include the concept and characteristics of legal rules, division of legal rules (i.e. the branches of law), sources of legal rules, interpretation and construction of legal rules, application of legal rules (i.e. judicial authority, application in time and space), and legal systems (i.e. Romano-Germanic Law, Common Law, Islamic Law, Asiatic Law, etc.).

This lecture is supported by a workshop that helps students understand the course.

Language of Instruction: Arabic (legal terms, however, are also given in English and French).
