Under the patronage of the Royal Netherlands Embassy, the Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design (FAAD) at Notre Dame University-Louaize, in collaboration with Solidere, has taken a worthy step to host the World Press Photo exhibition here in Lebanon.

The World Press Photo Exhibition is a world-renowned activity that travels around the globe and exhibits over 200 photos, including the year’s best photo. The exhibition’s goal is to increase “awareness of developments and realities around the globe” and its mission is “to stimulate the highest quality in photojournalism on an international scale, going beyond geographical, political, and cultural boundaries.”

A variety of events will accompany the exhibition. AN - Nahar will showcase a collection of archived photographs.

In addition to the exhibition being of interest to photojournalists, photographers – professional and amateur, and the community at large, Lebanese youths are especially targeted through the Beyond a Snap photography competition, in collaboration with Skoun, on the theme of Life, Health, and Hope.

As host of this exhibition, it is our duty to ensure that the benefits of this opportunity are offered to students across Lebanon. Schools and universities can benefit from the World Press Photo’s education package and the central location of the exhibition in downtown Beirut allows easy access from all parts of Lebanon.
