The 10th Annual National Speech Competition was scheduled to take place at LAU, Beirut on April 17, 2010. All Lebanese students who fulfilled the age and academic level requirements were invited to take part. This year’s theme was “Speculations on the Future”. The two students to win this competition would be sent to London by the ESU to represent Lebanon in the International Speech Competition to be held on May 19, 2010.

NDU-SC students, as usual, showed extreme enthusiasm for this event; in fact, four of them: Rawan Abi Ghanem, Rania Abi Ziki, Nancy Reman and Petra Narch, the only ones to represent NDU prepared their speeches and were practiced in delivering them by their Communication Arts instructor, Ms. Stephanie Farah, and then went to the Main Campus to participate in the in-house competition that NDU usually organizes to choose the best two speakers to represent it (all branches) at the ESU Speech Competition. There, they delivered their speeches in front of a jury composed of Dr. Carol Kfouri, Dr. Mary-Angela Willis and Dr. Paul Jahshan. The winners were Petra Narch and Rania Abi Ziki.

On April 17, 2010, the two students delivered their speeches again in front of the ESU jury; both were remarkable in their delivery and received commendation from the jury members and the audience. Although they were not chosen to represent Lebanon in London, they were still very happy to have taken part in such a personality building event and have earned such valuable experience. |
