The Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences at the Shouf Campus invited Dr. Amine Souaidy on March 26, 2010 to deliver a lecture on Enterprise Mobility Solutions. The importance of this topic stems from the fact that enterprises need to make data instantly available to all authorized people wherever they are on the globe.

Dr. Souaidy illustrated to the attendees a real-time Tracking System. The Tracking System he used provided real-time and historical location and technical data about his own car and the roads it followed since he started work on the day of the lecture up to parking his car at the University. He explained that Tracking Systems enable companies to keep track of the company vehicles as well as the employees. Dr. Souaidy added that BMB provides location services to Medium & Large Fleets, using in-vehicle locator hardware, and to Mobile Devices (Motorola, Intermec or other handhelds). Using Google Earth, he showed detailed street-level maps, with English and Arabic labels, set to show special landmarks and buildings.

Dr. Souaidy illustrated Enterprise Asset Management using a very interesting movie. He explained that by combining handheld mobile computers and bar code reading technology, these systems improve the ability to track, service and maintain assets, whether they're under one roof or in disparate locations. By capturing and managing data across the enterprise, these systems empower companies to better control the productivity of their assets and keep their business running without interruption.

All the attendees were active participants, exchanging Q&A with the speaker in a highly interactive atmosphere. The event was concluded with the speaker receiving curricula vitae from the attendees.
