A Panel Discussion
“Common Platforms for Bridging World Cultures”
Call for Papers
Detailed program of the panel discussion.
Upon the request of Dr. Assad Eid, VPSRD, to commemorate the EU Year of Cross-cultural and Inter-Cultural Dialogues, and to encourage research activities among NDU faculty members and students, a series of panel discussions entitled, “Common Platforms for Bridging World Cultures” will be organized during Spring and Fall 2008. The first panel discussion will be on Friday and Saturday May 30 and 31, 2008.
Faculty members and students (graduate and undergraduate) from the seven Faculties and six research centers at NDU are invited to make 20 minutes presentations. Extended abstracts will be published on a special web-page about two to three weeks before the panel discussion dates so that faculty members and students be better prepared to discuss the issues addressed in the panel. In each session, the discussion time will be equivalent to half the time of the whole session. Faculty members are encouraged to give special assignments to their students related to the specific theme of the panel. Only selected and refereed presentations/articles of high research quality and originality will be published in a special series under the general title of the panel series.
Panelists of the first panel discussion (May 30 and 31, 2008) are invited to investigate possible answers to the following question:
How and where do cultures meet (Integrate, Compete, and/or Conflict) in the fields of sciences, arts, humanities, business, and the professional fields?
Extended Abstracts of about 500 words should be sent electronically to the Chair of the Organizing Committee, Prof. Naji Oueijan (noueijan@ndu.edu.lb), by May 7, 2008.
