Poetry & Translation Contest - Prize Distribution

Dear School Officials:

You are aware that tomorrow, the 7th of May, 2008, is a critical day because of the demonstrations. Although NDU and most of your schools will be open, the Faculty of Humanities and the Organizing Committee of the Translation and Poetry Prize Distribution Ceremony have decided to postpone the date till Monday, May 12, from 10:00-11:30 am.

Again we thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
All the best!

The Organizing Committee of the NDU Poetry & Translation Contest is delighted to inform you that the Translation and Poetry Contest juries at NDU have completed their screening of the works presented.

On behalf of the Faculty of Humanities & the Department of English, Translation & Education,
I would like to cordially invite you to attend
the Prize Distribution & Poetry Reading Ceremony
which will take place
on Monday the 12th of May from 10:00 am. - 11:30 pm.
at NDU, in Issam Fares Auditorium or Abou Khater Auditorium

(depending on the number of attendees)
Invited are the participants, their school representatives, their parents, and their classmates besides the NDU officials, faculty members, and students. The Lebanese media will cover the event, as well.

During the ceremony all participants in the Translation Contest will receive special certificates, and the winners in the Translation Contest will receive their prizes.

All the participants in the Poetry Contest will also receive special certificates; but due to the limitations of time, only the first six winners will be asked to read their poems. Only those six students will be judged for their presentations before the final results are announced.
This is why all participants in the Poetry Contest must be prepared to read their poems in case they are among the first six winners of the first screening. The ceremony will be concluded with a reception in honor of all the participants and their schools’ representatives. Schools’ representatives are kindly requested to send the approximate number of attendees so as we can arrange proper seating and parking as soon as possible and before the end of April 2008.

I would like to thank all participants, their school representatives and officials for making this activity a successful one.

Dr. Naji Oueijan, Chair of the Organizing Committee
