HACCP Training Session in NDU-Barsa
In line with the Continuing Education Program at the University of Notre Dame, the Nutrition Department at NDU-Barsa arranged a HACCP training session. This training was conducted by Boecker, one of the Middle East largest food safety consulting and training companies, which endorses its certifications from the Royal Institute of Public Health in the United Kingdom.
24 participants attended this training; from NDU- Barsa, NDU- Zouk and Balamand University. The training extended over two full days, plus a third of 2 hour-exam, and was presented by Ms. Hala Makhoul, Boecker’s regional food safety manager.
The training course thoroughly covered the most critical and essential aspects of food safety, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points; principles, hazard control, implementation, monitoring, correction, verification, reviewing and documentation.
The coordinator of the Nutrition department at NDU- Barsa, Ms. Alia Makhlouf reported the importance of such certification for the students’ future professional life, especially those heading for careers in food management, food production, food quality assurance, hotel management, hygiene officers, executive chefs and dieticians. Attendees of this training session reported great satisfaction and relevance of such educational experience.
