Engineering Students Invited to Participate in Prestigious International Conferences
Mechanical Engineering student Alain Achkar was invited to participate
in the International ASME Conference and Competition in Florida, USA.
As winner of the Lebanon ASME competition, Alain will be competing with
students from 17 universities worldwide in the Robot Design Competition,
Mars Rocks, to take place November 12-19, 2009. The competition’s aim is to
design a robot that can collect rocks from the surface of planet Mars during the
next NASA mission.

Electrical Engineering student Joan Farjo and Computer and Communication Engineering student
Ramzi Bassilwere nominated to participate in the Festival of Thinkers conference which will
take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, November 1-4, 2009. At this conference Joan and Ramzi
will attend lectures and participate in panel discussions with several Noble Prize Laureates
attending the conference. The goal of the festival is to provide a platform to foster and
celebrate thinking, inspiring the youth of the region and allowing thinkers from around the world
to come together and share their ideas and thoughts.
