Beirut, March 21, 2017: Eight award winning students at the 10th NDU student film festival showcased their winning entries on the big screen on Tuesday the 21st of March at Grand ABC Dbayeh with the presence of renowned Franco-Lebanese director Philippe Aractinji and numerous social figures and media personnel.
The Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) International Film Festival (NDUIFF), a short film festival founded in 2007 at NDU, Lebanon, is celebrated annually under its constant theme, “The Power of Youth.” As the theme reflects, the NDUIFF mission is to promote young filmmakers by screening their films in the presence of a large audience, and promote their talents and artistic excellence.
NDU collaborated with Grand Cinemas who decided to venture in supporting the uprising talented and young Lebanese movie makers. These 8 winning entries from the NDU Student Film Festival were included in the blockbuster line-up at Grand Cinemas and experienced the whole cycle from admission tickets to being included in the movie guides.
Sam Lahoud, Founder and Director of NDUIFF at Notre Dame University-Louaize commented, “We really saw the fire in the students’ eyes as soon as they saw their movies projected on the cinema screen. This is the kind of passion that we talk about at NDU, and we are very happy that Grand Cinemas warmly opened their doors for those eager students.”
Carly Ramia Habis, Grand Cinemas’ Regional Marketing Director explained, “We really wanted those students to feel the thrill of seeing their movies on the big screen. If this is what it takes to encourage them to pursue their dream, then we are right there by their side to make sure that they go all the way.”
The Grand Screening is one of several initiatives organized throughout the year by the NDUIFF, all focusing on the common mission of empowering youth.
