Notre Dame University – Louaize (NDU) celebrated a memorial Mass for the second anniversary of Poet Said Akl’s passing. University Chaplain General Fr. Georges Nassif presided a Mass, which was held in the University Chapel.
Following the ceremony, participants headed to the Pierre Abou Khater Auditorium, where the VP for Cultural Affairs and Communications Souheil Matar announced the names of the Said Akl Award 2016 Laureates:
- His Excellency Dr. Ghassan Salamé – International Lebanese Creativity Category
- Musician Toufic Succar – Arts Category
- Dr. Anis Mousallem - Aesthetic Literature Category
- Dr. Mouin Hamza – Science Category
- Dr. Jad Hatem – Thought Category
- Ms. May Menassa – Short Story Category
Following the announcement, a special tribute was paid to two great men: His Excellency Mr. Raymond Araiji for his human, cultural, and national paths and His Excellency Mr. Georges Skaff for his human, cultural, and national paths.
The Said Akl Awards 2016 will be distributed to the recipients during a ceremony, which will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at Notre Dame University – Louaize, main campus.
