Believing in the importance of a more supportive and effective workplace, Notre Dame University – Shouf Campus held two Relational Needs Training Sessions for the NDU-SC staff on May 22 and 31, 2017. The sessions were given by Dr. Chady Rahme, Assistant Professor in Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and certified Relational Needs trainer.
During the two sessions, Dr. Rahme went through a detailed explanation of the top ten relational needs that all people share. Understanding these needs would help people uncover their hidden potential and develop healthier and better relationships. The knowledge of needs improves people’s lives towards the better and helps them succeed both, in their workplace among their colleagues and at home, among family and friends. It helps them get in touch with their own emotional intelligence and tap into it to realize their full potential.
The ten relational needs, discussed by Dr. Rahme, were as follows:
- The need to be accepted
- The need to feel safe
- The need to be appreciated
- The need to be encouraged
- The need to be respected
- The need to be loved
- The need for attention
- The need to be satisfied
- The need for consolation
- The need to be supported
Fr. Hanna Tayar, Director of NDU- Shouf Campus, thanked Dr. Rahme for his time and for the valuable lessons imparted during the two sessions. Fr. Tayar emphasized that the NDU family continuously works on improving itself and on creating a supportive, healthy and inclusive workplace.
The first training session received a blessed and welcome break as the Bishop of Saida Eparchy, Mr. Maroun Ammar visited the community and delivered a small word of advice and admiration to the staff. The bishop also helped congratulate staff with new born babies and handed them their gifts.
