#NDUERS ACQUIRE INNOVATIVE SKILLS IN CONFLICT-SENSITIVE REPORTING WORKSHOP

Department of Media Studies (DMS) at the Faculty of Humanities (FH), Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU), #NDUers Eva Oueiss (alumna) and Maria Aoun were recently shortlisted among 90 applicants to participate in a 10-day long “Conflict-Sensitive Reporting” and “Training of Trainers” workshop organized by Media Association for Peace (MAP-Lebanon) in partnership with Deutsche Welle Akademie (DWA).

Qualified experts in the field of Peace Journalism as well as DWA and Map-Lebanon trainers led the workshop, which encompassed the principals of peace sensitive reporting and the characteristics of peace journalism, among other interesting topics.

Oueiss and Aoun were given the opportunity to improve their skills and asked to design a training program focused on “alternative media” and “ethical challenges” where they were expected to combine their academic knowledge and the practical tools they acquired during the workshop. Both women felt the workshop helped them develop their intellectual, cultural, professional capacities, and practice of Peace Journalism.
