NDU STUDENT PRESENTS PAPER AT ICA CONFERENCE

A student from the Department of Media Studies’ (DMS) at Notre Dame University-Louaize, Mary Hanna, took part in the International Communications Association (ICA) Conference held in Washington D.C. The ICA is a leading worldwide educational organization for communication scholars and its annual conference is one of the most renowned.

Under the guidance of her supervisor Dr. Jessica El-Khoury, Assistant Professor at the DMS, Hanna presented part of her Master’s thesis at the interactive poster session. Her presentation “Body Images in Lebanese Music Videos: Social Comparisons and Perceptions of a Lebanese Audience" highlighted how the body images portrayed in Lebanese music videos affect people’s perceptions of their own body image and the influence the artists have on the audience in terms of one’s own body satisfaction.

Speaking about her experience at the conference, Hanna said: “My attendance at the 69th Annual ICA Conference is an extremely important step in my development from a graduate student to a professional in the field of communications. This conference was a great networking opportunity, allowing me to meet esteemed scholars and students in the field.”

The paper was published in the conference proceedings, which are accessible online to more than 4,500 ICA members from 80 countries.
