The Department of Career and Placement at Notre Dame University- Louaize (NDU) signed on Thursday, October 18, 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lebanese Solar Energy Society (LSES).
In attendance were NDU’s Vice-President for Administration (VPA) Fr. Samir Ghsoub, Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Elie Badr, Dean of Students Dr. Charbel Zgheib, and LSES President Youssef Ghantous as well as Faculty deans and faculty members at NDU.
Department of Career and Placement Senior Officer at NDU Nancy el-Ghoul welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of building bridges between academic institutions and such societies. She summarized the aim of the MoU, which is to enhance students' skills, give students the chance to practice 'the learning by doing technique' and prepare them for their future careers.”
El Ghoul added, “We, at the Department of Career and Placement at NDU, believe that the work environment is becoming more and more competitive; thus having a challenging internship and/or a recruitment opportunity, is the only guarantee for career growth.”
Dr. Badr said, “We secure career opportunities for our students and we teach them complex practical skills to improve their abilities in addition to their courses.”
For his part, Ghantous stated that LSES is providing NDU engineering students’ four internships, as well as establishing an LSES student’s chapter at NDU, helping students to find green jobs, and encouraging NDUers to participate in renewable energy events & programs.”
The character is an important part of education and it is often overlooked because test scores and GPA cannot capture it nor do they incentivize it. This is why NDU is adopting a strategy to meet both, the educational and behavioral needs, so our students can be easily selected for any job opening.
