FLPS STUDENTS WIN A STUDY TRIP TO THE HAGUE

Six students from the Department of Government and International Relations have participated along with 200 other students from eight Lebanese universities in the Inter-University Course on International Criminal Law and Procedures, organized by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and Asser Institute and NDU.

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is a tribunal of international character, inaugurated on March 1, 2009. Its headquarters are on the outskirts of The Hague, the Netherlands.
NDU students, Jimmy Matar and Reine Zahreddine scored 3rd and 8th ranks; and as a result, were rewarded with a study trip to The Hague, Netherlands to visit the international tribunals located there.

Jasmin Lilian Diab an alumnus of the program and M.A. student in International Law at the FLPS, also joined Jimmy and Reine as the winner of the Effective Presentations Award in International Criminal Law. During their visit, they observed live hearings, participated in discussions with both the Defense and Prosecutor of the STL, and met with other leading figures in the different international courts and gain state of the art knowledge on a new and fast growing field of international law.
