NDU STUDENTS TAKE FIRST PLACE IN UNDP ANTI-CORRUPTION COMPETITION

December 1, 2018 – Three students enrolled in the Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) BAD 301 (Ethics & Responsibility in Business) course have won first prize in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Anti-Corruption competition in Lebanon.

The Department of Management and Marketing represented by the Ethics & Responsible Business course along with the department of Economics hosted the UNDP Regional Anti-corruption team twice during the Fall semester. Two seminars were organized at NDU in order to discuss corruption and anti-corruption policies in Lebanon. Students who attended the seminars and who were interested in strengthening their knowledge and engaging with the anti-corruption program were invited to attend a workshop in Beirut along with business students from the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Antonine University (UA).

During this workshop, participants were split into groups and had to come with one idea per group with the potential to become an initiative. The anti-corruption competition organized by the UNDP team took place on Saturday December 1, 2018 to commemorate the International anti-corruption day.

Three of the NDU business students along with one student from the Antonine University have won the first prize. Two students from NDU, one from this year and one from last year’s team, will travel to TUNISIA this week to attend a regional workshop organized by the UNDP.

Hearty congratulations to the winning students: Angie Chelala, Elie Lahoud & Christ Hajj Assaf! And best of luck to Angie Chelala and Joseph Abi Haidar who will be representing NDU in Tunisia!
