Lebanese National Bibliography Data Entry

Along with the abovementioned projects the ILT shall start building a bibliographic database on the publications of Lebanese authors since the beginning of the seventeenth century, date of launching the Lebanese Renaissance movement. This database shall be built by centuries and major figures of authors in different disciplines.  The Section on each figure includes: Biography, bibliography of works, bibliography of translations of his/her works, bibliography of books and articles written on this particular figure, selections of his/her writings and selections of tributes.

 

Publications related to Figures of the National Bibliography (FNB)

Two projects are suggested:

  • Include them on the Institutes website with a biography and a bibliography of their works, together with selections of their writings and selections of tributes;
  • This material shall be considered for book publishing introducing each one of the (FNB) and their works, together with selections of their writings and selections of tributes. This material shall be available on the website in three languages by spring 2017.

 

This material shall be classified, on the website, by centuries, and each series shall cover one century, as follows:

  • Seventeenth Century
  • Eighteenth Century
  • Nineteenth Century
  • Twentieth Century

 

Sorting, editing, and publishing the manuscripts and papers of Charles Malik

This project includes:

  • Categorizing
  • Describing
  • Classifying
  • Editing and publishing

Size of each book: 350-450 pages, medium size, 1000 copies. The first book, under this project, The Systems of Whitehead’s Metaphysics by Charles H. Malik, has been published in 2016.  

 

Lebanese Press in Lebanon and Overseas

This topic will include the survey of Lebanese newspapers and magazines in Lebanon the United States, Canada, South America, Egypt, Europe and Australia. It shall cover the period between the mid-19th century till the end of the 20th century. This huge survey, enriched with documents, will be published in more than one volume.

Average size of each volume: 350-400 pages. Mr. Joseph Abi Daher was requested by ILT to compile and prepare this project ready for publication. The first volume of this series will be published by autumn 2017.

Anthology of the Lebanese Literature in the French Language

This Anthology covers a wide selection of Lebanese writers who wrote in French during the 20th century. An introduction for every name followed by a three text selection for his/her work. It is going to be published in two volumes, 350 pages each. Dr. George Labaki was requested by ILT to compile and prepare this project ready for publication. The work is complete and it will be published by summer 2017.
