Religion and Politics in the Middle East - POS 405

An exploration of the social, cultural, economic, and developmental roles of religion in the Middle East including the challenges, opportunities, and threats that Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faith-based political parties and movements are facing in the current context. Emphasis will be placed on the role of religion as a potential force for development, the role of faith-based civil society organizations and the political links to the Mediterranean region and the MENA as a whole.
