The course provides basic knowledge about biological rhythms and their survival value in various organisms, with special focusonmammals.Itprovidesinsightinto the mechanisms underlying entrainment to environmental stimuli. Functional significance of the circadian pacemaker in relation to some diseases is also considered. BIO 626 Developmental Neurobiology (3.0); 3 cr. The course provides comprehensive knowledge about development of the vertebrate nervous system, both central and peripheral. It discusses the factors affecting neuroblast migration, differentiation, identification of target tissues and establishment and maintenance of synapses. Neurogenesis of selected brain regions is also considered. Prerequisite: Consent of advisor.
