This course covers the guidelines and principles of managing, executing, and evaluating recreational leisure and sport events. Students will broadly consider the different forms that these events can take; with a focus on the ones that are most popular. On top of the standard planning, logistics, funding, operations, design, maintenance, risk and safety tasks; Students will also learn to manage the interaction of the different stakeholders involved from a psychological and sociological perspectives. Patterns of behavior, control techniques, safety and environmental concerns, and demographic characteristics will be examined. Prerequisite: HVM 201.
