Health care organizations are under continued pressure to contain costs while maintaining high quality health care. The purpose of this course is twofold: (1) to help you learn about the many controversial issues facing the healthcare industry; and (2) to prepare you for analyzing the issues affecting health care institutions, including payers, providers, and suppliers. You will learn how the various sectors of the health care delivery system deal with conflicting demands from an assortment of stakeholders, including governments, insurers, suppliers, employers, health care professionals, and patients. Prerequisites: HCM 401, HCM 402, HCM 403.
