The Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design (FAAD) and the Lebanese Emigration Research Center (LERC) at Notre Dame University in Lebanon, has invited artists from Lebanon and abroad to participate in a contemporary art exhibition on the Lebanese Diaspora.

The main objective of the proposed event is to contribute in bringing the Lebanese Diaspora close to its land of origin through the avenue of art, this event to be but one single link of a long and solid chain of cultural events meant to create a universal Lebanese society and culture spreading across the five continents. This art exhibition aimed at providing participants with an opportunity to reflect on Lebanese Diaspora in all its aspects.

The exhibited artwork featured a wide range of media from painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, and photography.

Moreover, this exhibition featured an excellent jury composed of eminent authorities, namely Ms. Sylvia Ajemian, Mr. Gregory Buchakjian, Mr. Samir Sayegh, Ms. Maha Sultan and Mr. Joseph Tarrab. They have assumed a tremendous responsibility in assessing and selecting digital copies of all proposed artwork, this procedure in itself first of its kind in Lebanon in connection with art exhibition, making it easier and less costly to the candidate artist to present own artwork for screening.

I am proud to say that this art competition has attracted artists from Lebanon and abroad and as such contributed to boost the image of Lebanon culturally. It is worth noting that 129 artists proposed 298 artworks of which 83 artworks were selected by the event jury. It is our wish and our new mission at NDU that this event be followed by similar events in the years to come to become a recurrent appointment with art of Lebanese and international signatures, a cultural benchmark situated in the land of Cedars.
