Address of the President of NDU
for the Class 2010

Class of 2010, in a few days, you will be leaving NDU to take on the world with the knowledge and values you banked in at NDU. While this day appeared a little far away when you first came in, it will be a beautiful memory a few years down the lane and some of your classmates will remain as lifetime friends you have acquired during your years at NDU.

On this celebrated day, we owe thanks to a big number of people that made a difference in your lives; these words of appreciation are a very small stepping stone in relaying our gratitude towards them. Please join me in giving your families a big applause. Continuously doing their utmost best all the time are your outstanding faculty and even without recognition the supportive and dedicated staff..…. All have created a path of amazing deeds in your wake.

Every person needs a guiding light in his life and I always found that a simple letter from my father has managed to motivate me. During the era in which he lived, opportunities were very limited and attending university was never an option. Therefore, my father started working at a very young age and continued doing so his whole life. He even worked several jobs at the same time, so that he could give his children a better life than the one he had. He always would say to us: “Aim for the stars, and even if you only reach the treetops, you would have at least gotten off the ground.” I have taken my father’s advice throughout my career. Now it is your time to build the life that you have imagined, to take your years of education out into the world and make it a better place.

Your years of hard work and commitment to your academic success have paid off. I look forward to greeting each one of you, personally conferring upon you the degree that you worked so hard to earn, and then welcoming you into the Alumni family.

Congratulations and Best Wishes,
Fr. Walid Moussa, MMO
