Class of 2009, your graduation from NDU is few days from now. This day, that appeared distant when you first met many of the people who will sit next to you during the commencement, forge in it memories for a lifetime.
On this day of celebration, there are many people to thank. Please join me in giving your families a big applause. Continuously performing good deeds are your outstanding faculty and even without recognition the supportive and dedicated staff. …. All have created a trail of miracles in your wake.
A simple letter from my father has always motivated me. He did not have my opportunities, and was not able to attend university – because of the times in which he lived. So, my father went to work and during his whole work life, he worked multiple jobs at the same time, so that his children could live another way. He always would say to us: “Aim for the stars, so that you will reach the treetops, and at any rate, you will get off the ground.” I have taken my father’s advice throughout my career. Now it is your time to build the life that you have imagined, to take your years of education out into the world and make it a better place.
I look forward to greeting each one of you, personally conferring upon you the degree that you worked so hard to earn, and then welcoming you into the Alumni family.
Congratulations and Best Wishes,
Fr. Walid Moussa, OMM
