Commencement Guest Speaker 2009  
Mrs. Leila El-Solh Hamadeh was awarded the Pontifical Medal by Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. The medal was in recognition of the achievements and efforts made by the Foundation. Mrs. El-Solh Hamadeh was also honored by several organizations and institutions, which include but are not limited to - LAU with a doctorate degree in humane letters; the Rashaya Organization for Art and Culture; Hagazian University Service Shield; and others.

On Friday, October 31, 2008, Notre Dame University (NDU) welcomed Ms. Leila El-Solh Hamadeh, to receive the equipment donated by the AlWaleed Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation, to the Faculty of Engineering. In his speech Father Walid Moussa, President of NDU, said that Ms. El-Solh Hamadeh is a friend of NDU and mentioned that the growth of universities is measured today by its ability to keep up with the latest technologies and the help of AlWaleed Bin Talal in this regard is greatly appreciated.

Mrs. El-Solh Hamadeh was elected “Woman of the Year” for her accomplished role on the national level in July 2008.
