How to configure MS Outlook 2003 to use MS Exchange
(RPC over Http)
Note that this feature can only be used if MS Office 2003 is installed on the client machine.
Also All Security updates and patches for Windows and Office 2003 must be applied
Requirements: to implement this procedure, the client needs MS Outlook 2003.
- Install the required certificate.
Right Click on the NDU Root Certificate.zip (CER Format - Windows Environment or DER Format - Apple/Mac Environment) and Select the option "Save Target As..."
Extract the saved file with a WinZip
software
Double click on the Extracted file, Figure 1:

For Windows XP users, Follow the wizards (4 dialog boxes) just type the Next buttons and/or Yes buttons to any dialog box that opens by accepting the default values until Figure 2: Certificate Import Wizard is displayed.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 users,
- click Next button in the first dialog box.
- The certificate you downloaded must be installed in Trusted Roor Certification Authorities (see figure below)

- Finally Follow the wizards by typing type the Next buttons and/or Yes buttons to any of the remaining dialog boxes that open by accepting the default values until Figure 2: Certificate Import Wizard is displayed (above).
Finally close any opened dialog boxes by clicking Ok.
- Configure MS Outlook 2003
Make sure that MS Office 2003 is installed on the client machine
Open the Control Panel, locate and double click on the Mail icon
In Figure 5: Mail Setup click on Show Profile button button

Press the Add button in Figure 6.

Type NDU Mail as a profile name as in Figure 7.

press OK Button in Figure 7.
Select Add New e-mail account option in the figure 8, then press Next button

Select Microsoft Exchange Server option in figure 8, click Next button

Type elissa.ndu.edu.lb in the Microsoft Exchange server.
Check the Use Cached Exchange Mode.
Type your NDU email account
Click on MORE SETTINGS… button.

A no match name dialog box appears, just click OK as below in figure 10.

in figure 11, Make sure elissa.ndu.edu.lb is in the server name textbox
Make sure your username given by NDU is in the Mailbox textbox
Click Cancel button,

Click on Connection tab on top of the dialog box
Put a check mark next to connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP
Click on the Exchange Proxy Settings…

Fill in the value EXACTLY as they are in the dialog box below

Type webmail.ndu.edu.lb in first text box.
Type msstd:webmail.ndu.edu.lb in the next text box exactly the same with no spaces
put a check mark in all check boxes
make sure that the authentication settings are Basic Authentication
Press OK button
Press OK in Figure 7: Microsoft Exchange Server
Click on Check Name in Figure 6: E-mail Accounts

Type your email account and password
Click Next and Finally Click Finish
- Automatic move of email message from the server to local client
This process is used to empty the mails from the server mailbox.
Open the Control Panel, locate and double click on the Mail icon
In Figure 5: Mail Setup click on Show Profile button

Select View or change existing e-mail accounts option
Click <Next> button

Click on New Outlook data File button

Press OK button

Select the default values press OK button.

Press another OK button

Make sure the new created Personal Folder is visible instead of Mailbox – user in Deliver new e-mail to the following location.
if you have multiple profiles make sure you are using NDU Mail profile that you just created
Provide the NDU email password
