Dr. Chahine A. Ghais is Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Public Administration and Diplomacy (PSPAD) since 2006. He is an Associate Professor of International Relations in the Department of International Affairs and Diplomacy. Dr. Ghais held previous appointments at Notre Dame University as the Chairperson of the Departments of Political Science, Public Administration and International Affairs and Diplomacy (2002-2006), Director of Student Affairs (2000-2002), and was elected as Faculty Representative (1999-2000). He received his Ph.D. in 1998 from University of Missouri, St. Louis in the field of International Relations. He has an MA in International Relations, an MA in Political Science, and a BA in Political Science from Mc Gill University. Before joining Notre Dame University in Lebanon, Dr. Ghais taught, and was a Research Fellow, at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and worked as a Project Consultant with FOCUS St. Louis, assisting the Mayor in reforming the St. Louis City Government. Dr. Ghais’ main area of research interest is Conflict Resolution, specifically Ethnic Conflict and the interaction between international relations and local communal and national politics, and the effects for democratization and stable development of pluralistic societies.
