Ziad Rached was born in Zahle, Lebanon, on September 25, 1970. After initial studies at the “Notre Dame” and “Saint Joseph” schools in Lebanon, he received the B.Sc. degree and the M.Sc. degree in mathematics from the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1994 and 1996, respectively. He received the M. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in applied mathematics (information theory) from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, in 1998 and 2002, respectively. In 2002, he joined the department of Mathematics and Statistics at Notre Dame University, Zouk Mosbeh, Lebanon, where he is currently an assistant professor.
Research interests:
Information and Communication Theory: Generalized information measures and their operational characterizations in source coding, hypothesis testing and channel coding; Error exponent, probability of error and correct decoding, generalized cutoff rates and channel reliability function.
Linear Algebra: Jordan triple systems and Jordan algebras. Classification of different kinds of algebras and modules via polynomial identities.

Ph.D. in Mathematics (Information theory), Queen’s University, Canada, 2002.

M.Sc. in Mathematics (Information theory), Queen’s University, Canada, 1998.

B.Sc. in Mathematics, University of Ottawa, Canada, 1994.
